Baggies end Chilean chase

West Brom have pulled out of a move for Chile international Gonzalo Jara. The defender was believed to be set to move to the Hawthorns, but manager Roberto Di Matteo is now understood to be keen to splash his cash in more important areas of his squad. The centre-back will now remain with Chilean outfit Colo Colo and, speaking on the club's official website, president Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle said: "We had a commitment signed, but the English club provided some financial problems that impede the signing of the player." The Baggies have also denied making a bid for Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.
