Baggies deny Meite approach

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has denied reports which claimed he has offered £1million for Bolton Wanderers defender Abdoulaye Meite. The Ivory Coast international is expected to leave the Reebok Stadium this summer but his destination will not be The Hawthorns, according to Mowbray. "There's nothing happening there. If comments have come out of Bolton then that's disappointing but it's just speculation and no more," he told the Birmingham Mail. Meanwhile, the Baggies boss has revealed he has made an approach to Liverpool to sign goalkeeper Scott Carson. The £5million-rated England international has been linked with the Baggies, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers after Stoke City pulled out of the race to sign him earlier in the week. "We've had conversations but we can't say any more as it may come to nothing more," he revealed. "There is nothing to comment on at the moment. "We haven't set a timescale and we may hear no more about it. Things will either move along or they won't."
