Baggies close in on Teixeira

West Bromwich Albion are close to completing a £500,000 move for Portuguese midfielder Filipe Teixeira.

The Baggies have reportedly agreed a fee for the 26-year-old with club side Academica de Coimbra and Teixeira will travel to The Hawthorns for a medical.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Greening claims he is close to agreeing a new contract with The Baggies.

The 28-year-old midfielder has 12 months remaining on his existing deal but is hoping to put pen to paper on a new contract after revealing his admiration for manager Tony Mowbray.

"We're still talking with the chairman and I'm sure we'll sort things out when we get back from the tour (in Slovenia)," Greening told the club's official website.

"Everything is going well and the talks have been good.

"The manager's one of the reasons I want to commit my future to the club.

"I've had a few chats with him and he's told me who he wants to bring in, how he wants to play and that I'm in his plans.

"He wants to build a team to play the way I like to play. You can't ask for anything better than that as a player."
