West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal with French club Auxerre to take Romania defender Gabriel Tamas on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old needs to secure a work permit and gain international clearance before he can officially try his luck in England.

Tamas has just finished a loan spell back in his homeland with Dinamo Bucharest, while he has also played for Galatasaray, Spartak Moscow and Celta Vigo, as well as winning more than 40 caps for his country.

Meanwhile, Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed his interest in signing winger Victor Moses from Crystal Palace.

He told his club's official website: "We are working behind the scenes and have a number of players we are watching - Victor is one of them.

"He did well against us in September, but I've known of him since before then and have watched his development."
