Albion wait on Miller surgery
16 Dec 2008 - 12:14:48
West Bromwich Albion's stricken striker Ishmael Miller is still waiting for his knee injury to settle down before he undergoes surgery to correct the problem.
The 21-year-old suffered cruciate ligament damage in the recent 1-1 draw at Portsmouth and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray told the club's official website: "When you have injuries like this, you have to give it a couple of weeks to let the swelling and the whole knee settle down.
"Then the surgeon will go in and do the repair. I think he will have the operation in another week to ten days, then Ishmael will start the long journey back."
Meanwhile, Mowbray has admitted that it will be difficult to find a striker in the January transfer window to help his struggling side out.
He added: "If we can find a clinical cutting edge, that will make a difference.
"We need someone with the desire, the hunger and the ability to score goals, but there is no money.
"We have to find some loans if we can and it's difficult to find Premier League quality. Who will give you a Premier League striker on loan?
"That's the predicament but it's not something I fall out with the chairman about. He runs the club well and we never carry any debt."
