    West Brom have been drawn against Bury in the first round of the Carling Cup just one month after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

    Newcastle United and Middlesbrough, who were also relegated to the Championship last month, have received byes into the second round.

    Meanwhile Burton Albion, promoted from the Blue Square Premier League, have been handed a tough draw at Reading to new boss Paul Peschisolido's delight.

    "It's a fantastic draw and I'm so pleased for the players," he said.

    "To get a draw like this is wonderful for the club and the players and it is a chance for someone to make a name for themselves."
