West Bromwich Albion have warned Kevin Phillips that they will not break the bank to keep him at The Hawthorns.
The veteran striker is out of contract at the Premier League-bound Baggies this summer and has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal.
Last season's 22-goal top-scorer has been linked with free transfer moves to several other clubs, but Albion boss Tony Mowbray has warned the striker that he will not be held to ransom over a new deal.
The future of Zoltan Gera also remains in the air as the Hungary playmaker has yet to agree a new contract.
"If they want to ply their trade somewhere else for more money, then good luck to them," warned Mowbray.
"We will not be bursting the bank for any single player.
"I've seen it happen before and it can be bad for the dressing room."
