Albion in Vydra chase
Club to discuss loan deal with former Watford striker
Albion will conduct talks with Udinese striker Matej Vydra over a season long loan deal to The Hawthorns next week.
The Baggies are one of four clubs interested in bringing the former Watford loanee back to England next season after the 20-year-old’s impressive season last term.
The Czech Republic under-21 international fired 20 goals for the Hornets last season and helped Gianfranco Zola’s side reach the play-off final.
Vydra’s club Udinese were initially keen to offload the striker but were unable to find any buyers which met their £8 million price tag.
However, the Italian club are willing to loan the forward out again to gain more experience and further enhance his reputation in England.
Albion are believed to be joined by Sunderland, West Ham and Swansea in signing the striker. The Baggies may have an advantage over the other clubs after previously dealing with Vydra’s agent, Ondrej Chovanec, when signing goalkeeper Michal Danek.
Would Vydra be a good signing? Have your say at Baggies Banter.
