Albion hopeful of Meite return
11 Nov 2008 - 13:49:42
Ivory Coast international Abdoulaye Meite could return to action this weekend when West Brom entertain current Premier League leaders Chelsea.
The £2million summer arrival from Bolton Wanderers has been sidelined since the end of August when he picked up a calf injury in the goalless draw against his former club.
He tried to make a comeback against Aston Villa in mid-September only to break down in the warm-up.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray told the club's official website: "I think Meite's got a chance for the weekend.
"He'll train this week, I'm pretty sure, and then I'll discuss with him on Thursday or Friday as to how he feels. We hope there's no recurrence.
"The bottom line is that he needs to get fit to compete for a place in the team."
James Morrison could also return to the starting line-up after missing the weekend defeat at Liverpool, with Mowbray adding: "James has got a sore back.
"We're hopeful he'll be training this week but you can never tell with backs. They can come and go.
"It's a wait-and-see scenario but we hope he's back for the weekend."
