West Bromwich Albion are keen to extend defender Sam Sodje's loan stay from Reading until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old centre-back has scored once in four appearances for Albion, netting in the crucial 2-1 victory at Norwich City on Easter Monday.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail: "In the short time he's been here, he has endeared himself to the other players.
"Our inquiry is with Reading at the moment. I'm pretty sure the boy's happy to stay. We want to keep him to the end of the season.
"Neither of our first two centre-backs are functioning at the moment. Neil Clement is still undergoing intensive treatment, while Curtis Davies is also out."
