Zola hails Upson contribution

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola praised defender Matthew Upson after he was on target in the 2-0 victory at Wolves. Mark Noble was also on the scoresheet but Upson's goal was as much a shock to the player as it was to Wolves as he had scored only once in 76 previous appearances for the Hammers. It came just days after the central defender spoke with Zola about increasing his goalscoring rate, and the Italian explained: "I am pleased with his performance and his goal. "In the week we have been talking about that. He said to me he would like to score more goals. "After the match he came to me and said we have to talk more often. I said anytime. "He played well. I know he is a very good player. I am very happy to keep him. Hopefully he will stay with us."
