Zola eyes Toni and Gudjohnsen as West Ham continue to fire blanks

Gianfranco Zola's hunt for a new striker will become even more urgent this week after West Ham fired blanks again in a 1-0 home defeat by Napoli in their final pre-season match. Zola is chasing Luca Toni, of Bayern Munich, and Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen in a bid to beef up his lightweight attack. With Luis Boa Morte out until January after tearing knee ligaments and Dean Ashton apparently on his way to Stoke, the job was left to Carlton Cole yesterday. But he rarely threatened and the match was settled by a mistake by Robert Green, who allowed Fabio Quagliarella's header to loop in under the bar.
