Zola encouraged by winning start

Gianfranco Zola spoke with quiet confidence about what the future holds for his West Ham side after their convincing opening victory at Wolves. Goals from Mark Noble and Matthew Upson secured the points and dampened the carnival atmosphere at Molineux, on Wolves' return to the top flight after a six-year absence. Zola said: "Some of our players were in fantastic form - and that includes the goalkeeper. You have to say he had a fine game. "We defended very well, and it was pleasing to keep a clean sheet in our first game of the season. It was a very encouraging performance. "Nobody knows what lies ahead, but we can take a lot of positives from this display. "We think we can have a good season and will be working hard to make it happen."
