Valencia wants to get going again

Enner Valencia is targeting Saturday's visit of Burnley to get back amongst the goals as West Ham look to address a poor run of form.

The Hammers have won just three Barclays Premier League games since the turn of the year and any hopes of European qualification have now been replaced by targeting a top-half finish.

Valencia has impressed in his first season in England but has scored just four league goals - his last in February - and the Ecuador international wants to hit the goal trail to help Sam Allardyce's side pick up a win against sturggling Burnley.

"We're all determined to get the three points we need, so hopefully we can start the final run-in with a good result," he told West Ham's official website.

"We've got Burnley on Saturday and after playing the last two games I feel great now. I've had some injuries during the season but now I am back and ready to play.

"I remember my goal at Burnley well. It was a good goal on the counter attack. Carl Jenkinson put in a good cross and thankfully I could head it into the goal."

With fellow forwards Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll still missing through injury, Valencia will be carrying more of a goalscoring burden.

"I am looking forward to scoring again," he added.

"It's been a while since I scored my last goal and I am desperate to help the team win the game on Saturday by scoring again. I've had to adapt, which has been hard, but I think I've done well in the process.

"I have learned a lot about the Premier League, the teams that play well, the teams that play strong and different kinds of football. I've adapted and I think next season will be better than this one."

Allardyce has no fresh injury concerns and the 60-year-old has confirmed teenager Reece Burke will start after impressing on his Premier League debut at QPR last week - with fellow defenders Winston Reid (hamstring), James Tomkins (shoulder) and Guy Demel (calf) all ruled out.

Alex Song missed the trip to Loftus Road with a back problem but may return.

Ashley Barnes returns from suspension for Burnley.

Fellow forward Sam Vokes will have a fitness test on Friday to see whether he has recovered from the thigh injury that ruled him out of the 1-0 defeat to Leicester last weekend.

Long-term knee injury victims Dean Marney and Kevin Long remain sidelined.

Ben Mee hopes West Ham will be thinking about the beach rather than Burnley this weekend.

Burnley are desperate for a win after they dropped to the bottom of the Premier League with a 1-0 defeat to Leicester last Saturday.

The Clarets are five points from safety with four matches to go - the first of which is at West Ham on Saturday.

After a strong start to the season, the Irons are guaranteed to stay up, and Mee hopes that can play into Burnley's hands at Upton Park.

"West Ham have had an up-and-down season," the Burnley defender said.

"They started off really well, now they are flying round mid-table so we will look to go there and hopefully take advantage of them switching off until the end of the season."

West Ham have won just one of their last 13 matches, but Burnley have hardly been on a sparkling run of form themselves.

Sean Dyche's men have failed to win their last five matches and their goal drought stretches back to their last victory against Manchester City on March 14.

Burnley are now odds-on to go down, but Mee is convinced the Clarets can defy the odds and get the points they need from their remaining matches against West Ham, Hull, Stoke and Aston Villa.

"It will be a massive challenge for us but we are looking forward to it, we still have that belief," the 25-year-old said.

"We have been written off all season so it's no different now.

"The games coming up are massively winnable."
