West Ham are racing to snap up highly-rated Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh. Clever negotiating by chief executive Scott Duxbury means a cut-price downpayment will secure the deal, but first West Ham have to sell. Defender James Collins will join Aston Villa and that will trigger the Chamakh purchase. Collins's departure has been covered by the arrival of Fiorentina'sPortuguese defender Manuel Da Costa, which sees midfielder Savio movethe opposite way and West Ham net £3million.
