Sam Allardyce has stepped up his attempts to bring in a new forward, by making a £6million bid for Nikica Jelavic.

After finally giving up hope to bring in Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes, Allardyce is hoping that the Rangers striker will provide the goals.

According to The Sun, West Ham have offered around £5million upfront with an extra £1million if they gain promotion this season.

The 26-year-old Croatian has scored 17 goals in the SPL this season and has also attracted interest from clubs such as QPR and West Brom.
