West Ham handed Crewe draw in cup

Barclays Premier League newcomers West Ham have been drawn against Crewe in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Sam Allardyce's side will host the newly promoted npower League One club at Upton Park during the week commencing August 27.

West Brom will face Yeovil at Huish Park for a place in the third round. Albion reached the third round last season where they were beaten 2-1 by Everton at Goodison Park after extra time.

Meanwhile, Swansea will host Barnsley at the Liberty Stadium, hoping to do better than they did in last year's competition. The Swans were beaten by lower league opposition at this stage of the competition last season, losing 3-1 to then League Two outfit Shrewsbury.

Fulham will travel to Sheffield Wednesday after the Championship club produced a second-half fightback to beat Oldham 4-2 in Monday's first round.

Scunthorpe's reward for Tuesday night's remarkable victory over Derby is a trip to Barclays Premier League side Norwich in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Elsewhere, Everton host Leyton Orient and Premier League newcomers Reading have been drawn against Peterborough.

Southampton, who also won promotion to the Premier League this season, take on Stevenage and QPR host Walsall in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Five-time League Cup winners Aston Villa host Tranmere, while Stoke have been drawn against Swindon, who beat Brighton on Tuesday night.

Sunderland welcome Morecambe to the Stadium of Light, and Wigan head to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.
