West Ham boss Zola promised two strikers by Sullivan and Gold

Gianfranco Zola emerged from a two-hour meeting with West Ham's joint-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold with assurances he would be armed with the firepower to avoid relegation.[LNB]Zola was promised two new strikers this month one before the game against Portsmouth on Tuesday and the new regime have already made a £1million bid, plus an extra £250,000 if they stay up, for Blackburn's Benni McCarthy.[LNB] New order (from left): Zola, Clarke, Gold and West Ham's press officer fall in behind Sullivan[LNB]The offer is short of Blackburn's £2.5million valuation of the 32-year-old, who is keen to leave Ewood Park this month and is interesting Galatasaray. Sullivan and Gold summoned Zola and his assistant Steve Clarke to a meeting on Tuesday evening to outline their immediate plans and believe Blackburn can be persuaded to do business.[LNB]Monaco's Eidur Gudjohnsen is also being linked to the club, though reports in Iceland he is about to sign seem premature.[LNB]The two Davids also promised Zola there were no plans to sell Scott Parker or Matthew Upson.
