West Ham aim to beat Stoke and West Brom to Portsmouth's Marc Wilson

Wanted man: Marc Wilson has been subject of several bids from Premier League clubs[LNB]West Ham manager Avram Grant has made a late bid for Portsmouth captain Marc Wilson.The pair worked together at the south-coast club last season.[LNB]Stoke and West Brom have already had £3million bids turned down for the centre-back, with Portsmouth adamant their star man won't be sold.[LNB]'To be honest we would not want to sell Marc Wilson,' manager SteveCotterill said earlier this month. 'There is no way, absolutely no waywe want Marc Wilson to leave.[LNB]'I think he is going to be agreat player, a massive player and I want to work with him here. I amsurprised at the bid, it's an unwelcome distraction.'[LNB]Stoke were believed to be the side most likely to sign Wilson after offering a cash-plus-player deal involving Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence.
