For sale: West Ham will sell defender Matthew Upson[LNB]West Ham co-owner David Gold has revealed he would be prepared to sell Matthew Upson if a club matched its £6m valuation for the England defender.[LNB]Upson is out of contract next summer but is yet to agree a new deal at Upton Park as he is understood to be keen to play European football to keep his England hopes alive, reports the Daily Star.[LNB]It means West Ham stand to lose the 31-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season.[LNB]However Gold now says he would be prepared for the player to leave before the transfer window slams shut in 11 days' time for the right price.[LNB]Gold said: 'We want to keep Matt here, but at the same time we know we may have to sell him if he tells us he doesn't want to stay.[LNB]'We don't want to let him leave the club for nothing. It's a difficult balancing act and a dilemma for us. If someone came in and bid £6m or £7m for him, we would have to sell.'[LNB]Gold insists he would like Upson to end his career at Upton Park and is keen to discuss the offer of a new contract with him.[LNB]But he is not prepared to lose him for nothing if the defender wants to quit the Premier League club and will look to sell to the highest bidder.[LNB]He said: 'We will do everything in our power to keep hold of Upson - as we will do with all our best players. We want to see Upson end his career with West Ham. We want to sit down and talk to him about a new contract - and quickly - because we are in a tricky situation.'[LNB] Liverpool and Stoke target Carlton Cole insists he's staying at West Ham West Ham primed to make move for Bolton star Matty Taylor as Radoslav Kovac rejects StokeWEST HAM FC
