Wales confident on Collins
Wales remain optimistic that West Ham defender James Collins will be fit for 2010 World Cup qualifying duty.
John Toshack's side are set to face Finland at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, before welcoming Germany to Cardiff four days later.
They are hoping to have Collins available for the crucial double-header, despite the defender having not played for over a month.
His last appearance for the Hammers came against Bolton on 21st February, with a hamstring injury keeping him sidelined since then.
He was not even included in Gianfranco Zola's squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackburn, but the Football Association of Wales is confident he can handle the rigours of international football.
An FAW spokesman said: "It is not ideal that James will not have played any football ahead of the internationals, but he seems confident he will be OK."
Craig Bellamy is also in contention for the weekend clash with Finland after coming through a 25-minute run out for Manchester City on Sunday unscathed.
Meanwhile, Rhys Williams, the Middlesbrough defender on loan at Burnley, has been elevated to the senior squad, while Bristol City's Gavin Williams and Peterborough's Craig Morgan have withdrawn through injury.
