Aston Villa have confirmed that a fee has been agreed with West Ham United for defender James Collins. It is understood that the deal is worth £5million and Villa will now be in a race against the clock to complete the transfer before Tuesday's 5pm deadline. Collins has been at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground and is undergoing a medical before finalising personal terms. The Wales international, 25, is viewed as a long-term replacement for Martin Laursen, who retired earlier in 2009, and Villa will now aim to finalise the deal. A statement on the club's official website said: "Villa have agreed a fee with West Ham United for defender James Collins. "The Welsh international is now discussing personal terms and must also complete a medical."
