West Ham youngster James Tomkins is ready to throw himself into the Irons' relegation battle. The 21-year-old featured for the second string in the 1-0 Barclays Premier Reserve League victory at Everton. With Avram Grant's side rooted to the foot of the table with no points from their first four matches, changes could be made for the trip to Stoke. Centre-back Tomkins would love to get another taste of first-team action, having featured against Aston Villa and also Oxford in the Carling Cup. The England Under-21 international told the club's official website: "I really want to play. I will keep working hard and trying to impress in training, as that's all I can do. "If I do play well for the reserves, hopefully the feedback will get back to the manager and, you never, know, I might get to play. That's all that I want to do - to play."
