Roma make Toni approach

Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni could be set to seal a switch to Roma, according to the player's agent. The 32-year-old Italy international is understood to be surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena following the arrivals of Mario Gomez and Ivica Olic, and he has been strongly linked with West Ham and Monaco. However, it now appears he is closing in on a return to his homeland after agent Jose Alberti revealed he expected Toni to complete a move to Roma. "It's a situation that is 80 per cent likely to be concluded successfully," he told Roma Giallo Rossa. "At the moment, there is no negotiation - only an interest on Roma's part. "Both the club and the player have been informed and Roma are awaiting a response from Bayern Munich. "Toni is very willing to return to Italy, particularly because he played in the World Cup in Germany alongside [Francesco] Totti, so that would be an extra incentive for him." He added: "He wants to regain the faith of those who didn't believe in him in Germany."
