'Ridiculous' Grant talk grates Gold

West Ham manager Avram Grant has again been told his job is safe despite the Hammers being stuck at the foot of the Premier League table.[LNB] Grant has endured a difficult beginning to his reign with the East London club, winning just one of his first nine Premier League games in charge.[LNB]The Israeli was only appointed by the Hammers in the summer following the departure of Gianfranco Zola, but has been unable to bring about an upturn in fortunes.[LNB]Next up for Grant is a testing trip to Emirates Stadium to tackle title-chasing Arsenal, with West Ham having failed to find the net in their last three visits to the home of the Gunners.[LNB]Co-owner David Gold, who took charge at Upton Park along with David Sullivan earlier this year and appointed Grant after axing Zola, has every confidence the former Portsmouth and Chelsea boss can turn things around.[LNB]Gold, who has publically backed his manager on several occasions this term, has branded the latest speculation over Grant's future as 'ridiculous'. [LNB]He told The Sun: "To talk about sacking Avram after just 10 games is utterly ridiculous.[LNB]"He will be given time. I've seen enough to know we have a competent management team, good players and that we'll win games."
