Pulis targets double figures for Stoke star Beattie after West Ham brace

Tony Pulis has challenged James Beattie to reach double figures for goals this season after the striker ended his scoring drought against West Ham. Beattie scored both of the goals for Pulis' side on Saturday as Stoke won 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium. The former England international had failed to score this season before the weekend win, in eight appearances, and his spirited celebrations displayed his relief. He kicked the advertising hoardings repeatedly after scoring his second, which was a  poacher's finish; his first had come from the penalty spot. Stoke boss Pulis said: 'He is very streaky in respect to his goals, when you look at his record, so fingers crossed that will continue and he can get a few more in the next few weeks. 'For the second goal, he made up ground well and he  took it very well. And his penalty was good. 'You have to get at least of two of your players in double figures and hopefully James and Ricardo (Fuller) will do that for us. 'We also have (Dave) Kitson and Tuncay has been away for a month playing for Turkey and flying all over the world but he will come in and do the same as well.' Beattie has now scored nine Barclays Premier League goals since joining the Potters in January from Sheffield United in a £3.5million deal. The 31-year-old has scored twice in a Premier League match once before for Stoke, in a 2-2 home draw with Portsmouth in February.
