Paddy Kenny to use Cannavaro case in bid to get drugs ban overturned

Paddy Kenny will use Fabio Cannavaro’s escape from a drugs ban as part of his defence in Tuesday’s appeal against a nine-month suspension for taking prohibited substance ephedrine. Cannavaro failed a drugs test after using cortisone to prevent an allergic reaction to a bee sting but was given a reprieve. Sheffield United goalkeeper Kenny took ephedrine in a cold remedy before United’s play-off semi-final with Preston in May. The FA banned him from all football until April. West Ham, meanwhile, will contest all four charges brought against them by the FA regarding crowd trouble at their Carling Cup clash with Millwall in August.
