Millwall fans admit sorting plane banner stunt mocking Avram Grant - Millwall Legend

ShareA group of Millwall fans have claimed responsibility for the banner mocking Avram Grant during West Ham's defeat at Wigan that sealed their relegation. [LNB]A plane flew over the DW Stadium - pulling the words 'Avram Grant - Millwall Legend' - after Wigan equalised on their way to winning 3-2.[LNB] Up in the air?: The banner mocking Avram Grant is flown over the DW Stadium[LNB] The Hammers' stunning collapse from 2-0 up saw Grant axed by the club as they slipped back into the Championship. [LNB] And it has now been revealed that a group of Millwall fans - who came together of the fans' website House of Fun - were behind the stunt.[LNB] Joke: Fans on the House of Fun website claimed credit for the stunt[LNB] A statement from them read: 'Members of Millwall website, House of Fun, clubbed together and raised enough to charter a light aircraft to fly over Wigan's ground today trailing a banner with the words, Avram Grant - Millwall Legend. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.' [LNB]The admission won praise from fellow Millwall supporters, many of whom were delighted to see their arch rivals join them back in English football's second tier. [LNB]One fan wrote: 'Now this is a real classic! Brilliant timing and brilliantly funny! Very well done!' Another posted: 'A massive well done to everyone involved in making this happen!' [LNB] Over and out: Avram Grant can't bear to watch in the defeat at Wigan[LNB]Police will face another test when the two sides meet in the league matches at Upton Park and the New Den next season. [LNB] In August 2009, one man was stabbed as fans clashed outside Upton Park before and after the Hammer's Carling Cup victory. There were also three pitch invasions during the match.
