Mark Noble has called on West Ham to "put things right" when they face Manchester United in the final game at Upton Park on Tuesday night.
The Hammers' penultimate home match before their move to the Olympic Stadium did not go to plan, with a 4-1 defeat by Swansea all but ending any hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Yet with his side still on course for a Europa League spot, skipper Noble called for some perspective on their progress this season.
"I'm not going to dwell on it because we've been fantastic this year," he told the club website.
"We've had two or three games this whole season like that.
"We're still fighting and we're still in a fantastic position, so let's not forget where we've come from. We've improved massively this year.
"Let's not get too disappointed because we've got two big games to go and we obviously need to do better.
"All I'd say is that we know it's a bad result. I've played in every game this year and we've done fantastic and we need to get back to winning ways on Tuesday.
"We're itching to get back out there and put things right, of course we are. It's the last game ever at this place and it's going to be special."
The Hammers were on top for the opening 25 minutes but, from virtually Swansea's first foray out of their own half, they fell behind.
Wayne Routledge tapped in from Kyle Naughton's cross, and six minutes later Andre Ayew doubled the lead when he converted Stephen Kingsley's centre.
Ki Sung-yueng made it three shortly after half-time and although Kingsley's own-goal briefly raised hopes of a West Ham comeback, Bafetimbi Gomis extinguished them late on.
Swansea now look set for a mid-table finish, a far cry from when Garry Monk was sacked in December with them lying a point above the relegation zone.
Swans midfielder Jack Cork told the club's website: "It would be great to end the season as high in the league as we can.
"It has been a hard season, but we have pulled together and turned it around. A positive result against Manchester City next week would would top it off."
