Lure of Italy could see embattled Zola leave West Ham for Napoli

Napoli has emerged as a potential getaway for troubled West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola with chief executive Scott Duxbury and technical director Gianluca Nani also targeted to join him.[LNB]The Italian has been under much strain since his arrival at Upton Park last year with the Barclays Premier League club enduring their worst start to a season since they were relegated in 2002/2003.[LNB]And with much financial uncertainty engulfing the East End outfit, the trio head the ambitious Italian club's wish-list, according to a report in the Telegraph this morning.[LNB] Home sweet home: Under-pressure West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has been linked with a return to Italy to boss former club Napoli[LNB]Zola is regarded a hero at Napoli, having helped them win the Serie A title in his first season as a player in 1990, understudy to the great Diego Maradona.[LNB]  The Serie A side sacked Roberto Donadoni on Tuesday, sacked by ardent owner Aurelio De Laurentius on Tuesday following fourdefeats in seven league games, lying in 15th place - well below hisbold target of third-place.[LNB]Although former Sampdoria coach Walter Mazzarri was immediately appointed as the ex-Italy's coach's successor, it is understood Zola remains their No 1 candidate for the hot-seat.[LNB]Indeed, the lure of a return to Italy could be enough alone to persuade the diminutive former Chelsea genius, with reports suggesting he has been extremely agitated by his continuous power struggle against  the club's current creditors CB Holdings.[LNB] Italian job: West Ham's chief executive Scott Duxbury and technical director Gianluca Nani are also thought to be on Napoli's radar[LNB]Zola, along with close allies Duxbury and Nani who share the club's 'football project' vision for a brighter future at the Boleyn breeding the next superstars, had hoped that CB Holdings would offer economical stability following the embattled reign of troubled Icelandic banker Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson.[LNB]But they have been frustrated in their attempts to sanction several transfers in the previous window, including their failure to raise sufficient funds to make a £7million move for in-demand Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.[LNB] No deal: Ex-Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan has denied he will buy West Ham[LNB]The timing could be right for the trio to seek pastures new with the club's off-field woes translating on them off late with the Hammers rooted in 19th place, without a win since their opening day defeat of newly-promoted Wolves.[LNB]  Meanwhile, former Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan has denied reports linking him with a takeover bid for West Ham.[LNB] He said: 'I have had no discussions whatsoever with West Ham and I have had no discussions with any other club at this stage.[LNB]'I just think I'm being linked because they are down the road and they are obviously owned by a bank that's insolvent.[LNB]  Ukraine v England live!
