Millwall have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them by the FA in relation to the crowd trouble at the Carling Cup clash at West Ham in August. A man was stabbed as fans clashed outside the east London ground and West Ham fans invaded the pitch following each of their side's goals in the 3-1 extra-time win. Both clubs were charged with failing to ensure their supporters refrained from violent, threatening, obscene and provocative behaviour, failing to ensure their supporters refrained from racist behaviour and failure to ensure their supporters did not throw missiles onto the pitch. West Ham were also hit with a further charge of failing to ensure their supporters did not enter the field of play. Millwall have now submitted their not guilty plea and supporting evidence to the FA and have pledged to mount a "robust defence" to all the charges.
