Horsfield to launch legal action against Hammers despite no games for Blades

Striker Geoff Horsfield is considering legal action against West Ham over the Carlos Tevez affair despite not playing a solitary game for the Blades in 2006/07. The Hammers have agreed to pay United £26million over five years but have so far refused to pay any further compensation. Around 20 United players past or present plus ex-manager Neil Warnock are set to make claims against the Hammers but Horsfield's decision is the most remarkable.  Not only did Horsfield not make a single first-team appearance for United that season, he spent two spells away from Bramall Lane on loan to Leeds United and Leicester City. Horsfield also announced his retirement in 2008 after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. However after successful treatment he resumed his career and signed a six-month contract for Lincoln City. Horsfield said: 'There are no personal grudges against West Ham from any of the Sheffield United players involved, myself included.  'The fact is we lost considerable sums of money as a result of beingrelegated to the Championship because our wages dropped as aconsequence.'It is nothing personal or about being bitter but about justice.'
