Hammers unveil hall of shame

11 September 2009 10:40
WEST HAM UNITED have unveiled a rogues? gallery of hooligans who invaded the pitch during the club?s Carling Cup match with Millwall. The people, who include a woman who ran on carrying a large handbag, face life bans by the club, and could face prosecution. It is a criminal offence to invade the pitch, punishable by a fine of up to £1,000 and a ban from all stadiums for three years. The club wants "real fans" to name and shame the pitch invaders as part of the measures it is taking in the wake of the disturbances at Upton Park last month. Outside the ground, one man was stabbed and dozens more were left with blood streaming from head wounds as yobs fought in the street. Scotland Yard described the violence as "organised" and it has led to fears it could harm England?s bid to host the World Cup in 2018. Fourteen men were arrested following the violence and nine have been charged. A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing. He was bailed pending further enquiries. Anyone who recognises those pictured is urged to call or text 07969 042837.
