Hammers handed Black Cats tie
West Ham have been drawn away to Barclays Premier League rivals Sunderland in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The Hammers have won three and drawn one of the last four meetings between the sides and will be looking to extend that fine sequence.
The tie will be played in the week commencing September 20.
