Hammers fail in Gameiro bid - Report

West Ham have had an £8million offer for striker Kevin Gameiro rejected by French outfit Lorient, according to reports on Tuesday.[LNB] Hammers boss Avram Grant is in the market for attacking reinforcements after his loan move for Felipe Caicedo reportedly fell through.[LNB]Gameiro has emerged as a prime target for the Premier League club after impressing during the past two seasons with Lorient.[LNB]The livewire frontman joined Lorient from Strasbourg in 2008 and scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 during his debut campaign at the club.[LNB]The 23-year-old built on that promise by netting 17 goals in the league last term and he has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.[LNB]The former France Under 21 international revealed earlier in the summer that Valencia were keen, while AC Milan have also watched him in the past.[LNB]West Ham have now made an attempt to win the race for Gameiro, although reports suggest Lorient want £11.5million before agreeing to sell.[LNB]Lorient have already lost one key player this summer after Laurent Koscielny joined Arsenal and will be seeking another sizeable fee before allowing Gameiro to join his former team-mate in the Premier League.
