Hammers end Cavani chase
West Ham have opted against pursuing their interest in Palermo striker Edinson Cavani.
The Hammers have been tracking the Uruguay international for some time and saw an offer knocked back by his Italian employers last summer.
Reports had suggested that an improved bid would be made this year, with the Premier League outfit determined to get their man.
However, West Ham's sporting director Gianluca Nani has made it clear that the club will not meet Palermo's valuation and as a result will now be turning their attentions elsewhere.
"Cavani is a great player, we tried (to sign him) last summer, but we will not be trying again," Nani told MelitoOnline.
"We have not made an offer to Palermo because he is not part of our plans.
"16million euros (£14.2m) is too expensive. We are not interested."
