Hammer time! Gold and Sullivan make £42m West Ham takeover bid

The former Birmingham City owners David Gold and David Sullivan are reported to have made a £42million takeover bid for West Ham United. [LNB]However, the figure falls far short of the £80m that the Hammers' owners are believed to be seeking.[LNB]The bid, according to a report in the Guardian, was submitted to Rothschild, the bank who were appointed in October to find new owners for the cash-strapped Barclays Premier League club - at the same time Gold admitted he would seriously consider joining forces with his business partner Sullivan to buy their boyhood club.[LNB] Taking over: David Gold and David Sullivan (R) are said to be mounting a buy-out[LNB] The pair are said to have made two proposals within their offer, onean outright bid  to assume full control and the second, to purchase a50 per cent stake at around £21m which would in turn guarantee vitaltransfer funds for manager Gianfranco Zola.
