Green responds

West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green produced a fine performance on Saturday to answer his critics, making a string of tremendous saves to keep his first clean sheet of the season as the Hammers ran out 10 winners over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. After his unfortunate World Cup mistake, Green has been under sometimes intense pressure from media circles and some supporters and a shaky start to the season had led to a number of people questioning his ability to cope with the pressure. With the Hammers 1-0 up, Spurs’ Luke Modric hit a stinging shot which Green acrobatically tipped onto the bar.   “It was a typical Robert Green performance,” said Avram Grant. “He is a good goalkeeper, sometimes keepers have good days and bad days but this was his normal performance.  He did some great saves.  It is not easy, especially the one from Modric.”
