West Ham were very lucky last night as they came through a tough League Cup tie with League 2 outfit Oxford United thanks to late goal by Scott Parker. After another lacklustre display from the Hammers, Parker converted a Piquionne cross three minutes into injury time to spare the hosts the drama of an extra 30 minutes extra time. Despite a poor start to the season, new boss Avram Grant insists that the job is still work in progress.  “Mentally it is not just about the first win; it is that we did it in the last moment.  “The players were fighting against relegation last year so there is some psychology problems and we need to adapt also to the way we play football.  We are developing.  Of course it will take time and be step by step but the main thing is to progress.”
