Gianfranco Zola tips Robert Green for England

Green makes his 99th League appearance for West Ham at Stoke on Saturday then reaches a century at home to Liverpool next Saturday. But Green has yet to start for his country – both caps were won as half-time substitutes, for David James, in 2005, against Colombia, and in Spain, in February. "Green is doing very well for me, and, as far as I can see, also having seen the competition, he can be among the best players in this country," said Zola. "He can be easily the No 1, and that doesn't come because he is my goalkeeper, it's because I see he's a very good goalkeeper – he gives you so much security. "He is a strong man, he's got a strong personality. As far as I am concerned, on form, he the best English goalkeeper." Zola warned against complacency, adding: "They [Stoke] are one of the best home teams, absolutely. I think it's been the secret for the season, because they won only one game away from home, at West Brom. "But at home they are a different team, they are dangerous, very difficult to beat, and I'm expecting a game like that on Saturday as well."
