Gary Alexander vows to restore pride of Millwall

GARY ALEXANDER insists Millwall are ready to hit the headlines for all the right reasons when they take on Brighton at the New Den tonight. The hooligan violence which ruined Tuesday night's Carling Cup tie at West Ham has caused the club's name to be dragged through the mud following the horrific scenes in east London. The trouble overshadowed a valiant display by Kenny Jackett's men, who came within touching distance of claiming a famous Premier League scalp. But Alexander is adamant his side are ready to restore Lions' pride by tearing into visitors Brighton, who have yet to manage a victory in League One this season. "After the past week, it's just nice for us to get playing football," said Alexander. "Games against Brighton are always a bit of a derby and I'm sure they'll bring a lot of fans with them. "After losing in the play-off final last year, we came back hungrier than ever and even more determined to get promoted. "It's a tough League this season with a lot of money being spent and some massive clubs like Leeds, Charlton, Norwich and ourselves. "We've made a good start and we're unbeaten so we need to make sure we keep that going."
