Frankly outstanding

West Ham 0-1 ChelseaSoccer Saturday analysis[LNB] Paul Merson told Soccer Saturday one man was behind Chelsea's victory at Upton Park - Frank Lampard.[LNB]The England midfielder put in another powerful display ahead of next week's Champions League semi-final, first leg clash against Barcelona and set up Salomon Kalou's 55th-minute winner.[LNB]The quality of Lampard's performance once again left Merson wondering just what the 30-year-old has to do to earn one of the six PFA footballer of the year nominations.[LNB]"Chelsea were very comfortable," reflected Merson. "West Ham stood off them and they just passed it around and again Frank Lampard was different class.[LNB]"It's absolutely unbelievable that there are six players better than him in this country. He's been outstanding. Week after week he's the best player at Chelsea.[LNB]"He was again today. For Kalou's goal he makes a run into the box, gets to the line and all he can do is dink it to the far post without the goalkeeper cutting it out and he does it perfectly, absolutely perfectly.[LNB]"Kalou chests it down and smashes it into the roof of the net. It was all down to Frank Lampard."[LNB]West Ham were not without chances of their own, the best of which came on 70 minutes when Kalou pulled at Herita Illunga's shirt and conceded a penalty.[LNB]Right wayBut Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech guessed right and succeeded in saving Mark Noble's effort from the spot.[LNB]"It's easy to criticise someone when they have missed but Noble did open his body up," said Merson. "Cech's gone the right way and he's gone full length and it's a great save.[LNB]"But just before that in the first half he came out for a corner and was nowhere near it and Diego Tristan should have scored. It was cleared off the line.[LNB]"Bar that Cech was outstanding again. He didn't have a lot to do but when he did he was outstanding."[LNB]
