The Ferdinand family's association with West Ham United could enter a fourth chapter with the east London club hoping to secure the signature of Southend United's Kane Ferdinand.

The Hammers' chief scout Martin Glover has been tracking the Shrimper's  19-year-old midfielder who has impressed this term with the Essex club. The most junior of the four footballing Ferdinands - Les, Rio and Anton - to have graced Upton Park has bagged four goals in 19 appearances this term for the Essex club.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is preparing a £500,000 offer to bring him to east London. Ferdinand has 18 months remaining on his contract at Roots Hall but has been tipped to play at a much higher level. Kane's father is Irish and was born in Dublin and he has already represented the Republic at Under 18 and Under 19 levels.

The London-born midfielder has been at the club since he was 13, he's worked his way up through the youth teams and the reserves, made his debut aged 18 back in January this year and has been a regular ever since.
