FA extend deadline

The Football Association have extended the deadline for West Ham and Millwall to prepare their cases before a panel is appointed to look into violence at the clubs' Carling Cup clash in August. Hammers fans invaded the pitch four times during the course of their team's 3-1 cup victory on August 25. A Millwall fan was stabbed in disturbances outside the ground and both sets of fans clashed with police in the streets. A four-man panel is likely to be appointed once the two clubs have submitted their responses to charges of failing to control their fans, projectiles being thrown onto the pitch and failing to prevent fans from shouting racist abuse.
