England expects and I'm ready, insists West Ham goalkeeping star Green

Robert Green insists he is ready to make his competitive debut for England in next month's World Cup qualifiers but is taking nothing for granted under Fabio Capello. West Ham goalkeeper Green is the frontrunner to replace injured No 1 David James with rivals Ben Foster and Chris Kirkland also sidelined. West Brom's Scott Carson remains an alternative but his relegation and high-profile error in the crunch Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia may count against him.   'As soon as Jamo was out I knew people would be looking around for a name but I'm a bit too long in the tooth to get carried away,' said Green. 'One thing I've learnt about the new manager is he does not take any notice of anyone else, he is his own man. But I will be turning up - assuming I am picked - and will prepare to play, as I do every time.'
