Carew nears Hammers bow
John Carew has come through a reserve friendly against Colchester and is in line for his first-team debut against Leeds on Sunday[LNB] The Norwegian striker, a free transfer after leaving Aston Villa in the summer, built up his match fitness by playing an hour in the 2-2 draw.[LNB]Left-back George McCartney, who rejoined the Hammers from Sunderland last week, got 75 minutes under his belt.[LNB]Mexican winger Pablo Barrera, who was an unused substitute in Tuesday night's 4-0 win at Watford, got both West Ham's goals.
