Capello's keeper duel is hotting up as he runs the rule over Green and James

Fabio Capello will scrutinise the form of Rob Green and David James this week as the race to be England's World Cup goalkeeper heats up. West Ham's Green has pleased Capello during the past five internationals but his mistakes in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Fulham have been noted. Portsmouth's James, 39, has been recalled to the squad after injuries but is no longer considered an automatic choice. With Group Six already won and a place in South Africa secure, Capello plans to give match action to both keepers during the final two qualifiers against Ukraine on Saturday and Belarus a week on Wednesday. The Italian will play what he regards as his strongest team in Dnipropetrovsk because the Ukrainians are still battling with Croatia to finish second in Group Six and qualify for a play-off. Victory for Ukraine against England will give them the edge going into their final game away to Andorra and Capello does not want to give Croatia any cause for complaint. He intends to be more experimental against Belarus at Wembley, when he may use players like Gabriel Agbonlahor, Carlton Cole and James Milner.
