Lee Bowyer has lost the appeal against his sending-off against Preston - and  will miss Birmingham City's final-day showdown at Reading.[LNB]The Football Association rejected Alex McLeish's submission and also that from the Lilywhites' Lee  Williamson, who also sees his three-match ban upheld after the two players  became embroiled in a tangle inside the centre circle.[LNB] Appeal: Lee Bowyer (left) in action earlier this season[LNB]McLeish said: 'Lee was told by the referee (Phil Dowd) that he had been sent off for headbutting and the official appeared to indicate that at the time of the dismissal. We put forward our reasons in the form of statements and DVD evidence as to why we felt that wasn't the case.[LNB]'However it seems the FA have now said it was for a wider range of things,  including the tussle, and our appeal was rejected.[LNB]'We are disappointed with the decision but are grateful to the FA for hearing  the appeal and now have to get on with things despite losing the services of a  key member of our squad.'[LNB] Birmingham 1 Preston 2: Bowyer blows it: City miss out after red cardTHE MIDLANDER: McLeish must take a bow if Birmingham book their ticket back to the Premier LeagueWest Ham midfielder Lee Bowyer seals Birmingham City loan deal[LNB]
