Ashton's West Ham days numbered as Boa Morte ruptures knee ligaments

West Ham have offered their clearest indication yet that Dean Ashton is on his way out after Junior Stanislas adopted the club's No 9 shirt. The academy graduate wore his new squad number on the club's latest home kit in Wednesday's pre-season 1-0 defeat to capital rivals Tottenham in Beijing, suggesting the Stoke and Hull City target's time at Upton Park is over. The 25-year-old was omitted from Gianfranco Zola's 23-man party for the Premier League Asia trophy in China with the club claiming the forward is continuing his rehabilitation from injury. Days are numbered: Dean Ashton's Upton Park exit appears imminent But Sportsmail understands that Stoke boss Tony Pulis and Hull manager Phil Brown, who is staying at the same hotel as the Hammers in Beijing, are preparing offers of around £5.5million for the injury-ravaged forward.
