Amalfitano set for West Ham move

Marseille winger Morgan Amalfitano is set to join Barclays Premier League side West Ham, Press Association Sport understands.

The 29-year-old, who has received one France cap, is currently in talks to become the Hammers' ninth signing of the summer - with a permanent or loan move being touted.

Amalfitano spent last season on loan at Premier League rivals West Brom, scoring four goals - including a memorable strike in the Baggies' 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

West Ham had been expected to bring in defensive recruits on transfer deadline day but Amalfitano now looks set to bolster manager Sam Allardyce's ranks.

He would join recent loan acquisition Alex Song, with Carl Jenkinson also recruited on a temporary deal from Arsenal. Permanent moves for Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho, Cheikhou Kouyate, Diego Poyet, Aaron Cresswell and Mauro Zarate were secured earlier in the transfer window.

Mohamed Diame has left West Ham to join Hull - with confirmation of a move for Amalfitano likely to be the last action of a busy window for Allardyce's side.
